Decoding how cysteines control cell decisions.
Chemical Biology & Redox Proteomics @ FAU.
Tools to map and reprogram the cysteine redoxome.
Excited to share our new Perspective in @natchembio.nature.com with @Yang_J_lab.

How do we move from isolated cysteine modifications to a systems-level understanding of redox signaling? We outline a unified chemical framework for decoding the cysteine redoxome.

Always exciting to see physical–organic sulfur chemistry in @ChemBioChem – isolable cysteine sulfenyl iodide in a “molecular cradle” as a hyper-electrophilic sulfenic-acid sibling and Cys–Trp gateway, reshaping ideas about halogen-mediated Cys oxidation.

Always great to see rigorous mechanistic work in sulfur probe chemistry from @mdpluth.bsky.social.

This study clarifies that thiophene-ester probes respond to thiols & esterases—not H₂S—helping sharpen design principles across the redox probe field.
