25 years and we still can’t talk about what came after, how this event and sentiment were manipulated to send a generation off to war with people who had nothing to do with it. The memory of 9/11 is forever tainted for those of us sent to do our nation’s bidding and dared ask why.
But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.
