I was 17, last night of the Edinburgh fringe so clubs were open till 5/6 am and im pretty sure we found out from the newspapers waiting on the doorsteps of newsagents on the way home. I think they said she was injured though not dead.

Sky news report last week on the early release scheme - whole 2nd half of the segment was farage press conference, sitting there like he was PM, saying they would send prisoners to el Salvador, keep courts open all day (?) etc - this party has 7 MPs?! Why are they always getting so much coverage?!

I thought just last week the amount of coverage this story was getting seemed unnecessary and disproportionate. Awful.

The government need to be much more vocal in calling this what it is. Andy Burnham cannot pander and placate and normalise by being silent or he will go the same way as starmer. He needs to remember this is a loud but very small minority.

It is a great idea but needs to be executed and funded well. As a teacher I see many kids staying on till 18 being pushed through academic subjects for no reason other than a lack of alternatives. But it could also be used to 'write off' the more difficult pupils if done badly.

Yes sorry but just because I live next to a factory / data centre / shopping mall (housing usually cheaper next to these types of employers) I don't want my kids education being focussed on preparing them for those jobs. How depressing.

Yes my dad was categorised as a 'woodwork' kid in the 50s and essentially written off by the education system (very poor working class background). Left school with nothing but got himself into uni at 30 and got a first class degree. Ability was not the issue.

The 'blame everything on immigrants' approach of Johnson, may, sunak, the daily mail, etc has resulted in this open racism and hatred. All to save their own inept political skins. How do they sleep at night. I've never been so embarrassed to be Scottish, I thought naively we were above this.

It's the trump playbook though - any official investigation or criticism is called a witch hunt or fake news which their cult-like followers believe.

Although both my own local council and the one I work in have both stopped using it, the Scottish and UK governments are still actively posting on it which I find unbelievable.

Yes this is the constant argument in Scotland re baby boxes, tuition fees, prescription charges etc (despite the fact many of these have to be applied for) whilst the same people cry poverty if they're taxed a bit more or have to pay more for their kids private school fees. Individualism I suppose.

About what? Labour policies benefitted the working class, who maybe need reminded of that a bit more. Current Labour naval gazing about how to win back the working class vote by talking about the politics of the 70s and trying to out-Reform Reform clearly isn't working. Dealing in facts might.

Surely if you haven't produced evidence after 6 years it means there is none? You can't just say it's there and not show anyone it? Why isn't that your story and headline?

14 years of austerity and years of Thatcher didn't do them good no, neither anything to do with labour. He better not obsess about winning them over, unless he gets some semblance of a balanced, factual media back it's not going to happen as they seem happy to blame it all on immigrants.
