This pin shows Trump is spewing falsehoods.

Yet the most salient feature of the Reagan / Bush 1980 campaign, for me, is really when Reagan went to the county location of a notorious white supremacist killing and signaled his support for that killing.

Alll of this. I started my career in construction, working office jobs alongside people who worked trades. Know how many 60-year-old guys I saw working as bricklayers? Doing demo? Zero. How many 50-year-old roofers there are? Zero. One reason unions fight for high wages is because careers are SHORT.
This is why I get pissed off when anyone accuses me of being an elitist when I say young people should go to college if they can. I say that because my dad was a local lineman and contractor who did heavy physical labor for years and has had chronic back pain since his early 30s
I was raised by a nurse with an associates degree and a steel mill electrician. I am not denigrating the value and dignity of blue collar work when I ask how many elite national media staffers are raising future bricklayers themselves.

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good.

I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

There are a lot of Trump officials who need to be impeached, but Russell Vought -- the quarterback of all the Project 2025 fuckery and a central player in the administration's overreach -- really needs to be at the top of the list.

it didn't even occur to me that the government might try to execute someone a second time if they torture the person but fail to kill them during a first botched attempt. truly grotesque and a moral stain upon all involved.

I'm at the Ryman Auditorium tonight, where the Indigo Girls played their anti-death penalty anthem "Faye Tucker" while not knowing that the state of Tennessee was simultaneously botching another execution.
“A lawyer for Christa Pike said executioners have administered two syringes of lethal injection drugs to Pike but that she remains alive and breathing.”

It’s been over an hour.
They made her wait all day to kill her, and now they’re torturing her.

This is preposterous as it is monstrous

Pike survived the execution procedure and now her lawyers, unable to reach the governor or state AG office, are rushing an emergency motion to the Tennessee Supreme Court in their *car* seeking an order to get her medical care

Pretty clear to me there’s a very good case against this man for mass murder, and I’m saying that in as measured a fashion as I can. He’s order the killing of 234 people under no plausible war or legal justification. I am skeptical he will ever face legal accountability for til his but he should.

I know Rahm Emanuel. I worked with him for years in the Clinton administration, and then when he was Obama’s chief of staff.

Rahm Emanuel represents everything that’s been wrong about the Democratic Party for the last 30+ years.

Whenever you see a pollster or consultant give a take like this, it’s always worth following the money. In this case, Emanuel has paid Anzalone’s firm nearly $300k (maybe more but that’s what I found so far).

The two main tendencies in national Israeli politics right now are "expulsion and annexation of the Palestinian territories" vs "civil separation under the authority of an Israeli police state", and virtually all mainstream US commentary simply refuses to engage with this.

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor.

This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why.

Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

In a wage-theft settlement, DoorDash now has to pay its workers around 100 times what it spent trying to beat Zohran Mam

If an internationally-wanted war criminal (whose forces have killed Americans) comes to US soil, attacks Americans (including the mayor of the largest city), and then says "Remember the beepers" in reference to a terrorist attack he committed — how can that be taken as anything other than a threat?
Bibi Netanyahu at the UNGA, in front of a half-empty chamber: "Do you remember the beepers? Remember? Remember them?!"

My entire life I've heard centrists scolding leftist candidates with "oh, but how will we pay for all that? isn't your agenda unreasonable? shouldn't we run on a modest proposal for means-tested tax rebates?"

Then Mamdani gets elected and makes it all look pretty easy. No wonder they hate him.

Please know that this is one of my few legitimate areas of actual, high-level professional expertise: Kicking the healthiest people off of a health insurance program will bankrupt it.

Not 'could;' not 'might,' not 'probably," but absolutely will, with mathematical certainty.
Dr Oz says the Trump administration will kick more than a million people off health insurance because some of them have "never filed a claim"

People overthink this, talking themselves out of a candidate they themselves really like in favor of one they imagine more people *might* like.

Seemingly odd fits have won repeatedly (Carter, B. Clinton, Obama) while the ones who we're told are more "electable" (Kerry, Romney) do not.
The black guy named Barack Hussein Obama got elected president twice. There is no "are they electable" argument. Anyone is electable if they're charismatic and solid on policy.
Because the priority should be winning. The Dem presidential candidate should be 1)is this person not awful(is there something disqualifying ), 2)is this person the most electable Dem that is not awful and didn’t do something disqualifying. Is it fair? No. But that’s a fight for a different time
