This often happens to me in the fall and it majorly sucks. Last year it was so bad that I couldn’t keep going and our wonderful seminarian @paulwj.bsky.social was able to step right in and pick up at the exact spot I left off on, which was a) impressive in its own right and b) a good skill to have!

(Also when the time came to face east for prayer, it was really easy for me to do so since our altar faces east! 🕯️)

Interfaith dialogue is hard. Interfaith prayer is often harder. To be able to do both with a dear friend in a dear place was a real gift. 🕯️

The liturgy (mostly sung psalms) was so joyful and had the freedom that I’ve experienced in some progressive charismatic/evaneglical spaces. And since we share the scriptures, I was able to enter fully into the prayer-as-prayer. It was really, really lovely. 🕯️
