There is simply no other podcast that dares to ask these questions.
New Past Lives: How Do You Get Bitten by a Lion in Roman York? Around 1800 years ago, a man was decapitated and buried on the outskirts of York, in northern England. He had been bitten at least twice by a lion around the time he died. Who was he, and how did this happen?

Corded Ware Culture rise up, who else about that life of pressing cords into wet pottery and apparently taking some heads along the way
This necklace made of 42 animal teeth is just one of the unusual finds unearthed in a Neolithic burial in Poland. The man was also accompanied by amber beads, a serpentinite battle ax ... and two human heads.

Scorpionflies, snakeflies, and robber flies (the only actual, er, fly in this list) are all top of my 'want to see in person' list - I need to go out hunting (a bit jealous 😅!)
Turns out that one of my favourite groups of insects live on my local patch, something I only just discovered today. Scorpionflies! This one is something like the fourth scorpionfly I've seen this year.

Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara, a 1996 arcade adaptation of TSR's D&D campaign setting by Capcom, had a number of regional flyers created to help promote it.

One of these was a multi-page "secret file" that came out in Japan filled with concept art, illustrations, and even a developer Q&A!

New Past Lives: Weapons Sacrifices and the Long Road to the Viking Age. The Romans never conquered Scandinavia, but thousands of Roman-made items - largely weapons - were dumped into bogs far beyond the frontier. Why that happened opens the gate to the Viking Age. pod.link/1852618120/e...

I like to think about the ozone hole and acid rain situation in the 80s and how we don’t worry about those so much anymore because a lot of people worked really hard to fix them (as best they could)
I've been seeing a lot of "well I guess this is the way things are now" "ah another line of evidence that we are a fallen empire", attitude that I am begging people to shake off. There are people working their butts off to make things better. Please don't give up. Join us.
