I clicked on that bluesky38 thing and while it doesn't request excessive scopes, there seems to be no distinction in the UI for apps that request full access to your account vs those that just request identification. If I were nefarious, it would be trivial to set up a phishing campaign here.

Does anyone happen to have good learning resources on learning how to perform molecular dynamics simulations, particularly in the context of material science? I'll obviously look for them myself, but I was curious if anyone had any that they found helpful.

No "is" is truly free from "ought", and no "ought" is truly free from "is". Is anyone truly grounding their epistemology without some non-factual claims about what axioms you "ought" to take? Is anyone truly grounding their morality without facts about the world and its functions?

After keeping wood samples under vacuum for 24 hours, then leaving samples under atmospheric pressure for 4 months: The result is that poplar is wayyy denser than it should be, oak and hickory are slightly less than theoretical but could be explained by swelling from water. Pretty good so far?

Can any linux wizards explain why the kernel isn't using all my memory for disk cache? I have 5.6GiB free instead of it all being used by buff/cache. Is there a way to fix this?

Just learned about Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen and he really is the source of so many scientifically inaccurate ideas about environmental sustainability. This guy makes Malthus look like a saint!
