Here’s my piece on the “now-completed demolition” of the Voting Rights Act in @thenation.com

The VRA is the most important piece of legislation in American history. It more than anything is what ended American-style apartheid. And now Republicans have killed it.
The Supreme Court Has Completed Its Quest to Kill the Voting Rights Act
In its 6-3 decision, the court gutted the legislation that ended apartheid in this country—and once again gave white people the ability to suppress Black political power.

RYAN: Before the war starter, there was clear intelligence that the base was high on Iran's target list and internal analysis that said the site is indefensible. Yet you sent our soldiers there anyway. True or false?

HEGSETH: Are you just gonna play gotcha?

RYAN: Six of our soldiers are dead

I mean ... Heller, Citizens United, Shelby County, Burwell, Trump v. Hawaii, Brnovich, Dobbs, Trump v US, Callais ...

That's a steady stream of radical rulings from a guy who pretended he had no agenda and promised he'd only call balls and strikes. He's a partisan hack, pure and simple.

He's worse than Roger Taney now.

He's the worst Chief Justice in history, I'd say.
The John Roberts Court has done more to reduce the political power of poor people and Black people while enlarging the voting rights of rich people and corporations than has any court since Roger Taney was Chief Justice in the 1800s.

I opposed his nomination in 2005, and I stand by that.

Dred Scott remains one of the very worst decisions of the Court and Taney's reign was marked by other insults, but no one has run the table, overseeing so many different radical decisions on so many different issues than John Roberts.

As war-related inflation continues to surge, consumer confidence has hit a record all-time low.

But corporate America is doing better than ever.

This is what a two-tiered economy looks like.

Today, his admin is arguing before SCOTUS in defense of chemical manufacturers during a trial that could shield them from future liability.
