Data centres are energy-hungry, and much of that ends up as waste heat. In Europe it's set to nearly triple by 2050.

Good news: it can be recovered and used or heating.

Europe led major markets on EV sales in H1 2026, up 30% year on year. EVs are now 30%+ of EU sales, 38% in the UK.

But the real story is global. Outside the major markets, sales rose ~75%. Latin America more than doubled. India +90%. Colombia +300%.

The centre of gravity is shifting.

California produced over half its May electricity from solar, a world record
New batteries to store solar electricity and low demand in May both contributed to high percentage of electricity that came from solar.

For anyone who thinks increasing oil & gas production is the path to energy independence, you're dead wrong. While we continue to rely on fossil fuels, we're held hostage to global pricing. The real path to energy security is local production of renewables and grid-scale storage. #EnergyTransition

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has been an accelerator for the energy transition I told @npr.org.

In an uncertain world, many countries found that investing in renewables and EVs give them energy security – and makes economic sense. And that's not going away.

The Iran war has pushed some countries away from oil and toward clean energy
The new round of bombing in the Middle East has underscored the precarity of relying on fossil fuels. The war is speeding up the global transition to EVs, solar, and batteries, experts say.

Wait… was that a…?

It was! 🐅

What you spotted was a Sumatran Tiger living in Hutan Harapan, Sumatra. Alongside our work in the UK, we’re supporting partners and local communities to restore native forest and protect this extraordinary ecosystem for generations to come.

There’s been a lot of talk in this race about what makes a "real man."

A man does what’s right when no one is watching. He upholds his commitments to his family and neighbors. He doesn’t lie, cheat, & steal his way through life.

Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.

Let's prioritize installing solar panels on structures like car parks and building rooftops instead of agricultural land, as this approach embodies sustainable development.

The Iran war is accelerating something that was already underway: Europeans turn to solar, heat pumps & EVs in large numbers. E.ON reports solar interest in the UK up 63%. Enpal in Germany: inquiries for panels & heat pumps rise 30%. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/08/b...

Climate has almost disappeared from our conversation.

But it remains the most pressing challenge of our times.

Last week the WMO said the planet is “more out of balance than at any time in observed history.”

Energy security and climate security are not competing priorities.

Renewables, electrification and storage offer more stable long term energy costs and stronger energy security.
