As often with Jews, it seems it was the *elites* who went to bat for them, arguing "maybe we shouldn't be quite so cruel to these people who aren't observably different," and it was *commoners* who insisted on staying weird bigots. There's a lesson about allying with poor racist white people here.
TIL about Cagots, a French/Iberian caste of "undesirables." They weren't physically or genetically distinguishable from their neighbors. The French, Basques, etc literally invented a people to be mad at.

Surprised KC trustee Laura Ingraham hasn't explained her vote to shutter the Kennedy Center. Since the board deemed the condition of the Center to be deplorable, why hasn't she given a tour to support her position & does she know how the $400M in liquid assets on hand at Sept 30 2024 was spent?
