At the mer sanctuary, Ghost goes into season, an exhausting and frustrating time for him. Soap, his friend in the next enclosure over, is more than happy to help by offering him the perfect place to lay his clutch. The researchers at the sanctuary get a very in depth lesson on mer reproduction.
DeepwaterMer!Ghost, a large (4 meters) specimen with a charcoal dorsal side, silver underbelly and fin tips, skull-like face markings, an iridescent sheen, and scars from restraints and the injuries caused by his initial capture, is aligned with his new mate. ReefMer!Soap, is a bit smaller (3 meters), his underside is a soft creme and his back a rich walnut with a bronze midtone between, the back of his neck and first dorsal fin is marred by a boat propeller strike. Both pairs of their cocks (2 each, 4 total) are intertwined, similarly to their tails, Soap's are a pastel pink and curl up towards their abdomens, Ghost's are a deep pink-red, one curls up with Soap's and the other is drawing out from where it had been buried in the smaller mer's slit. Soap looks down at where they're joined, holding onto Ghost's arm, while Ghost stares dazedly from where he's nuzzled into Soap's mohawk. They're in a large enclosure with high concrete walls, and a floor made of sand and rocks. Here's a shark merperson anatomy diagram I drew but didn't post last mermay, I thought I'd post it now to inspire others because there's been an influx of merfolk art (that I'm going to contribute to soon) :)

A little something for the end of summer. I was surrounded by lighthouse imagery as a child, old photographs, paintings, figurines, a statue just as tall as 4-year-old me. There's something ethereal and eldritch about them, something that haunts my past lovingly
