Common Milkwort, Polygala vulgaris, it's name comes from it's traditional use as a remedy to help milk production in nursing mothers. It's also a food plant of the Common Blue Butterfly, can be used to create a blue dye and is believed to ward off evil spirits. #storyplants #wildflowerhour

A bit of Saturday dog physics... have you ever wondered why dogs are such messy drinkers? They're actually using quite a clever mechanism to overcome a fundamental difficulty. (And cats, to no-one's surprise are a bit tidier) Yay for the ingenious physics in the natural world! 🐕🐾
