Ok, in my constituency (Newton Abbot), during the GE, opinion polls said Labour were the challenger, yet Liberal Democrats had won every by election in the constituency in the past two years. In the end Labour came fourth and Martin Wrigley won the seat for the Liberal Democrats.

Real votes, in real elections! you can't be more honest than that. If anything its opinion poll that are the misusers of data. I think you are deluded, if you think polls are better than real votes.

in Nov, Jan Goffey @libdems.org.uk won the Okehampton South (West Devon BC) by-election with 57% of the vote. Technically a Liberal Democrat gain from Green. At the time there was a LibDem/Green alliance.

That doesn't make sense, how could the candidate been "already a councillor". This isn't a isolated victory, Liberal Democrats have won every council by-election since the Devon County Council elections in May 2025. Including a gain from Greens.
