Quick refresher: Colorado voters created an independent redistricting commission in 2018. Equal numbers of Democrats, Republicans, and independents draw our maps — not politicians.

It's still the right model.

Here's something that should worry every voter, regardless of party: this Donald Trump's mid-decade redistricting push isn't about any one state's map.

It's an attempt to lock in a Congressional majority that doesn't have to reflect how the country actually votes in 2026 or 2028.

No one wanted to have to do this. Independent redistricting is still the goal.

But other states are stepping up — Virginia, California — and asking voters directly: Do you want to sit this one out, or fight for a level playing field?
