I have morals and a spine and I’ll hold my nose and vote for anything that isn’t red.

At any point you are welcome to get off your high horse.
April 13, 2026 at 11:44 PM
But do go on and tell me that it’s entirely the DNC’s fault Alex Pretti and Renee Good are dead. If only they ran a better candidate. Surely the voters who fucked around are without blame.

I like to argue on the internet so you’ll probably have to tell me a few more times before I lose interest.
April 13, 2026 at 11:40 PM
I say all this with the caveat that you should vote against newsome in the primary. Fuck newsome.

But in the real world, in our fucked up system, you will get two choices.

If those choices are newsome and vance, there’s a pragmatic choice and there’s a principled yet ignorant choice.
April 13, 2026 at 11:36 PM
I bet we can both at least agree that the current situation is horrific.

My take which you may or may not agree with is something along the lines of “Harris wouldn’t have sent ice to shoot those poor people in Minneapolis or built concentration camps.”

It’s a low bar, but holy shit I’ll take it.
April 13, 2026 at 11:34 PM
You don’t have to keep replying. I’m entitled to my opinion.

You might be wrong about who the Democrat base is, maybe you’re not it. Maybe progressives don’t fit in their tent. And that’s fine.

But the pragmatic move is to support the lesser evil when faced with a larger one.
April 13, 2026 at 11:31 PM
I get that newsome sucks, but come election day we’ll realistically only have two choices (this also sucks).

Would newsome be worse than vance? It’s a lesser evil thing, but sometimes it’s good to be pragmatic.

I feel like people weren’t pragmatic about Kamala and we got our current hell.
April 13, 2026 at 10:34 PM
I don’t disagree with you, I just really, really hate where we’re at and I think this rhetoric played a part in it.
April 13, 2026 at 10:29 PM
Yeah I don’t know how to make blue better, I really don’t. But I do think that mediocre blue is better than what we’re dealing with right now.
April 13, 2026 at 9:59 PM
This seems hyperbolic
April 13, 2026 at 9:58 PM
Yeah I guess I am.

The unfortunate reality is that if you don’t help the mediocre blue win, you get the awful, awful red.

In the meantime, work towards making blue better, but IMO when the time comes we should support the mediocre blue over the facist. Hot take I know but I don’t like facists.
April 13, 2026 at 9:20 PM
To what purpose would I blame both the DNC and voters who stayed home and/or protest voted who would otherwise vote blue? I think they’re both responsible for trump’s second term and I also believe it’s irresponsible to talk about doing the same thing again in 2028, regardless of the Dem candidate
April 13, 2026 at 8:02 PM
I’m dumb, can someone explain this to me please?
April 13, 2026 at 2:18 PM
I honestly do blame both sides. The side that protest votes or abstains when facists are running and the democrats for running bad candidates and campaigns.
April 13, 2026 at 11:27 AM
This is the internet
April 13, 2026 at 11:24 AM
Oh shit why didn’t I think of this!
April 13, 2026 at 1:53 AM
Nice!
April 13, 2026 at 1:26 AM
I’ll hold both the Dems who ran a bad campaign with a bad candidate and anyone who sat out or did a protest vote both accountable.
April 13, 2026 at 1:02 AM
I think protest votes or sitting out in the 2024 election is bad.
April 13, 2026 at 12:55 AM
Yeah
April 13, 2026 at 12:53 AM
Can I do both?
April 12, 2026 at 11:45 PM
Hasan might make a lot of good, sound arguments if you listen to the whole thing, but sound bites like “vote third party” are what people hear and then they do that and it sucks.
April 12, 2026 at 11:44 PM
I don’t like the two party system, our first past the post, or most Dems, but this “vote third party” stuff can be damaging as we’re all learning in real time right now.
