Sometimes I experience time like Dr. Manhattan. It is February, 2003, freezing rain noisily spatters the window of my dorm room in the Roost as I sit on my bed, making notes for a philosophy paper. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea plays on my cd player. I am 19 years old. Jenny will dump me in 6 weeks

As i resume a long-ago cobbled together watchlist of movies, i come upon Edward Yang's A Brighter Summer Day (1991). A Taiwanese coming of age story set at the start of the 60's. Running time....237 MINUTES?!?

Can't have a show without lighsaber fights. so we just keep adding more and more "fallen Jedi" since there aren't any Sith. It's gotten so crowded.
I think the lightsaber of this character from the Ahsoka S2 trailer is a good signal they're a fallen Jedi. There's a great
@charlessoule.bsky.social story in the 2020 Star Wars comics where Obi-Wan and Anakin discuss why Jedi don't really alter their lightsabers into crazy designs. 🧵(1/4)

How disinformation on X imperils Japan’s democracy
Japan’s writing system allows a user to convey a complex thought within a single 140-character post, making the platform far more expressive and functional in Japanese.

And then some. AI could never replicate a Murakami.
Haruki Murakami has said that he writes novels that are "completely different" from what AI can create, as his first book in three years hit shelves in Japan.
Murakami says his novels are ‘different’ from AI literature
When he is deeply focused on writing a story, characters suddenly show up, and “that’s not something that comes out from analogy,” he said, adding “AI probably can’t do that.”
