@saletan.bsky.social makes the case against Trump and looks at evidence Jack Smith brought up in a deposition last year:

“  If you think that Trump believed the election was stolen…DOJ officials told him that they didn't believe it was stolen…He knew he was telling them to lie.”

Jack Smith made it crystal clear that his investigation was sound and lawful, that the president had committed crimes and that the GOP attacks on him were the actual weaponization of our justice system. He showed courage and moral clarity and continues to be one of the heroes of this moment.

We live across the street from Federal Park, a pocket park in the Fan, RVA, that Robyn and other bike messengers frequented for respite and a break. I am quite sure we will see many cyclists gather there today as they honor her every year. RIP Robyn.

How in the hell did this Numnuts pass Econ 101???
Trump: "If we lose $50 billion a year with a country, and we say 'we're not going to trade with you anymore,' we don't lose $50 billion a year. It's very simple. Right?"

Martha Jones is great Her Amicus Brief was amazing.
I’ve been promoting the role of early Black Americans paving the the road to birthright citizenship for more than 20 years; today it mattered more than most. It’s been an honor to support the teams at the ACLU and the LDF Fund along with their clients in this work. hub.jhu.edu/2026/06/30/s...
Johns Hopkins historian Martha Jones cited in SCOTUS ruling affirming birthright citizenship
In a 6-3 decision, the court reaffirmed the long-held principle that children born in the U.S. are citizens

Mayor Mamdani is a PR genius.
Today, I signed an Executive Order temporarily repealing bedtimes in the City of New York so that kids of all ages can watch our team in the NBA Finals.

As Mayor, you’re forced to make many difficult decisions. This was not one of them.

Go Knicks.

Republicans: the party of crybabies and whiners.
Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia—

AOC: Wah wah wah.

We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no.

What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over.

Thank you McDonalds for hiring those facing federal job losses. Every family deserves to earn a living and that’s why we raised our minimum wage in Virginia to $15 an hour.

Democrats should be introducing articles of impeachment now and forcing Republicans to say no. Yes, it won't work. But at least force those fuckers to defend this shit to the public. I don't know what else to say at this point.

I’m sorry, if you’re a journalist and you’re still going to the White House Correspondents Dinner this year, genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, fuck off.
Journalists plan to make a subtle but pointed statement with their attire at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner, Status has learned, as Donald Trump prepares to attend for the first time.

The PBS News Hour used the same language: "House rejects DHS funding." Excuse me journos, the House didn't reject it. Johnson blocked a vote. Because he knew it would pass. ithttps://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/03/27/us/trump-news?unlocked_article_code=1.WlA.r6KP.YjC61Y4H37H7&smid=url-share

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

This was one of the most ridiculous stories I've ever seen on the News Hour. Early returns, though, are showing that there is no idiotic Republican story that @elizlanders.bsky.social isn't willing to report on in detail.
The NewsHour is consistently helpful and vital. But this opens with one of the worst "both sides" distortions of the news I've ever seen.
