Electric picnic sells out in 90 minutes nearly a year in advance so I am genuinely confused as to why there are ads on the radio for it.

I need to pick an energy supplier and we are halfway through the year which gives a solid baseline. So stats time. we used 3.82MWh between Jan and June and generated 3.84MWh from solar so we are just barely energy positive & exported 2.27MWh of that solar power and imported 2.41MWh from the grid

We had a subtle error with our solar installation corrected this morning. When off grid the house's neutral would not be bonded to earth due to isolating the grid connection. you can the terminal for the bonding relay furthest to the right on the bottom row mid install of earth bar link cable.

Just like getting solar panels makes you more aware of energy usage having a whole house ventilation system makes you notice air quality. Today was swap the filters day and this is what the main inlet filter looked like after several months.

ESB networks called me back today, turns out they found a faulty piece of voltage regulation gear in the local substation.
Todays engineering problem was that that there was too much sun and as everybody's solar panels on the street started exporting the local grid voltage spiked up to at least 257V. This causes my solar system at least to trip offline which shouldn't happen until the 269V esb networks set is reached

Yesterday while setting up Uber on my mum's phone I discovered that it has a mode for older users that hides all the ads and other visual clutter. I only used the app for a few minutes but it made a huge difference to usability. Props to whoever fought to keep it.

Our street has a lovely tradition of folks putting simple sets of lights on the trunks of the trees along the road at Christmas. I have been doing the tree outside an elderly neighbours along with those in front of mine.
Today I discovered that someone has stolen that set. #grinch #coalforxmas

I don't understand the point of the taxi drivers protest today. There are multiple other dispatch apps so don't use the one that you are having a pricing dispute with. More effective than annoying all your customers who likely would use which ever app has a critical mass of drivers.

Since the president has zero actual power and is 99.99% ceremonial can we replace the debates/interviews with skill tests. Can they deliver a speech opening a civic centre in the rain?
Can they learn the names and faces of 50 visiting dignitaries in 10 minute, then recall them in a receiving line?

Currently an hour into an ESB outage for scheduled work but the entire house is running off solar. Zero disruption. The future is pretty cool

A good point - everyone trying to run for president now had 7 years to try and get about 20 people to like them, and are still falling at this hurdle. Our elections are not a surprise.
