Fantastic essay to explain the origins of an even more fantastic podcast. Wil Wheaton introduced me to a new favorite author when he read “A Cure for Solastalgia” by E.M. Linden, a story which brought me to tears. Can’t recommend listening to the podcast highly enough.

Fair - I mean more effective in terms of scale and impact. From the perspective of a voter, it’s obvious that the federal EEZ is much *bigger,* but less clear if state governments have a large role to play in marine conservation, or can be effective by adopting stricter regulations in their waters.

In U.S. law, are federal or state conservation protections more important to protect sharks? I’m thinking particularly of how they interplay off Hawaii, but Q applies elsewhere, too.

Thank you for sharing, could not be more excited for this anthology. I loved the three existing “stories in honour of Gemmell” anthologies, beyond glad to see a new one being created and keeping his name alive.
