I’m proud of Canada for electing the smartest man in the room. I’m proud of the way that man has represented us on the world stage. I’m proud of how united Canadians are, in the face of a vile bully.

Not changing back and forth is great, but Standard Time is a much better option than Daylight Saving Time. Winter mornings are going to be brutal.

Canadian airports aren’t public utilities, and haven’t been since the 1990s. They’re operated by regional quangoes that are effectively private profit-seeing corporations without the ability to be regulated for public benefit, federally or municipally, as actual private owners might be
Airports are utilities. They (usually) have a monopoly position in markets with very high barriers to entry. This allows private utilities to extract "rents" from users of the service. Public ownership does a better job at stopping this than regulation 1/
I suspect that major airports are somewhat like electrical utilities, in that they're easier for governments to regulate when they're privately owned than when they're quasi-autonomous branches of the public sector that tend to be regulation-proof competing kingdoms

Watching the Emmys every year is such a great reminder of how much I have always loved TV. I watched far too much of it as a kid (my parents were big fans of many shows) and even now I consume so many, both comedies and dramas. So many great shows!!
