I think a good fundraising idea is: you bid for the right to listen to NPR reporters, secretly recorded, reacting candidly off-air to the stories they have to report. Like "Oh my f'ing god for the love of 8 pound 6 ounce baby Jesus what the actual f is this," etc., but in their NPR voices

I literally just today tried to get to content here, and while the home page loaded and the search function appeared to work, I couldn't click on any search results. Guess I know why.
The CIA just stopped publishing their World Factbook and took every page, including the archived copies of previous versions!

This sucks. It was public domain, so I recovered the 2020 edition (the last one published as a zip file) and shared it to GitHub simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/5/t...

4. 19th Century Music History
5. 20th Century Music History

There were, um, some holes in my undergraduate education…

1) Folklore
2) Biochem
3) History and Philosophy of Science
4) Zooarchaeology
5) French for scholarly reading and writing

(It wasn't a separate class but at some point in there I learned how to flint knapp with obsidian)
