The Onion has created a machine that will kill everyone on Earth that is coincidentally running out of money and the only way to slow it down is if my staff and I take a six-week vacation to Cabo San Lucas.

One of the big reasons modern sci-fi shows have such short runs is not enough of them happen on spaceships. When your show is set on a spaceship, you can dump a truckload of money into building like three specific sets right at the start, then just re-use them forever – it's very budget conscious!

It’s becoming an increasingly unavoidable conclusion that a portion of mostly establishment Democrat electeds/pundits/consultants don’t like Democratic voters much and would much prefer to have Republican voters instead, and view their voters’ insistence on being represented as an annoying betrayal.

We are a broken nation. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe.

But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.

Does no one else find this an unforgivably stupid question?

Emissions reductions won't make a heat wave NOW survivable.

Likewise, more homes can have AC, heat pumps while overall cutting greenhouse emissions. This isn't an "either/or", both are needed.

Air conditioning push favoured over emissions cuts in five European nations, survey finds
Poll also finds sizeable majorities who believe it should be easier to install air con in homes

The reason that the dem primary voters act this way is because resistance 1 people go: "your plan of having good policy is stupid we need to follow my plan of winning elections" then don't win elections

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling.

They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.

See NYT asked me for an op-ed on the Colorado River water issue. So that's what I told them. And the editors panicked & cancelled the piece.

In case we're wondering why "nobody can figure out how to solve this difficult issue."

We absolutely can, a lot of our professional talkers are just cowards.
Maybe just start by charging a market rate for water instead of using prior appropriation

I know you're not allowed to say this during the current debate, but the reason the left dominates academics, art, comedy, and music is that the right has stupid, discredited ideas, they're not funny, and dull resentment does not make for good art. No grand conspiracy required.

They're literally calling it "Unite The Right"?

Surprised that the article doesn't mention the particular history of that phrase, as pertains to far-right mobs.

the actual order of events from 2020-2024 gets strategically jumbled by reactionary centrists all the time. They love to blame 2024 on wokeness while skipping over the fact that Dems won in 2020. They talk about early COVID Iike it was a failure of Dem policy when Trump was in office.
I don't understand why this keeps getting overlooked: Joe Biden won in 2020 in the middle of Peak Woke. I'd go one step further than @brianbeutler.bsky.social does here: Biden *defended the BLM protesters!*

Douthat does everything that alt-right aspired to do, leading up to the Unite The Right atrocity in 2017. The difference is that he is better at that game (so far).
