I really wanted to try a style focusing mostly on the lines and just one color! I was struggling a bit at first cause I couldn't get the look I was going for but I tried out some other pen brushes and the calligraphy brush ended up working really well

I really wasn't sure what to do for today's prompt but I saw that Botero had made his own version of the Mona Lisa so I thought that I would try re-imagining Ariel

I had a lot of trouble getting this piece to come together. Originally I wanted a bunch of mermaids on the ship working but since I didn't have a lot of time for this piece, I ended up keeping them in the foreground

Today's medley contains some of the same animals as yesterday, the North Atlantic right whale and the vaquita. I added a hawksbill sea turtle and a european eel since I wanted to draw one part above water and one below!

The list of animals here if you want to look into them is: the Hawaiian monk seal, the black-browed albatross, the North Atlantic right whale, and the vaquita.

As I was looking up endangered sea animals though, I found out that albatrosses were also on the list and their expressions look so unimpressed that I had to add them to the illustration and turn it into a medley of animals!

I was originally going to draw the Hawaiian monk seal. They live near Hawai'i, mostly in Papahānaumokuākea, northwest of the Hawaiian islands. There are only about 1,600 Hawaiian monk seals left in the world.

The happier version of this tale ties into the Mid-Autumn festival, where the two are able to meet once a year 🥮

There are various versions of this myth (where she stole the elixir instead, either because she was greedy or to prevent Hou Yi who had become a tyrant after becoming a hero-king to rule forever, etc)
