Serbia has a new draft law meant to separate public office from election campaigns - limiting the misuse of office and public resources. 🧵

And this is not imported interference - not FIMI. Roughly 7 in 10 of these manipulative claims come from Serbian media themselves - not Moscow, not Beijing. 4/5

The EU and Russia got mirror-image coverage - the EU pushed down by negative reporting, Russia lifted up by positive. Same channels, same months. 2/5

On Serbian prime-time TV the world comes pre-judged: Russia and China as friends, the EU as the threat, Trump's US as the desirable West. Six months of monitoring, one clear pattern. 1/5

The ceilings on political donations are falling - and enforcement rests on two institutions with a weak track record.

The dominant narratives were, again, vilifying opponents (81 manipulations) and vilifying neighbours (49) - students and protesters cast as enemies of faith and state, neighbours as aggressors against Serbs.

You can also build your own. Drag each election - parliamentary, presidential, or local - onto any month, and every deadline is calculated for you.
July 3, 2026 at 9:25 AM
This is just one of five scenarios CRTA.Plus identifies for the next elections - regular, early, and combined parliamentary and presidential votes.

Each scenario shows what must happen, and the deadlines that follow.

First, the scenario in the headlines: an early presidential election.

If the president resigns, the Speaker of the Assembly calls the vote so it is held no later than 3 months from the end of the mandate. From calling to voting: 30 to 60 days.

SNS President Vučević announced today that we will have both parliamentary and presidential elections in the autumn. President Vučić recently announced he will submit his resignation soon.

So what happens to elections in Serbia - and when? CRTA.Plus maps out every scenario. A thread:
