I think some men, when they get older or face an illness, tend to form emotional connections with themselves and those around them. I believe this happens because patriarchy forces men to suppress their emotions.

It was once thought that male violence was simply a result of how boys are raised. But when we look at men and their families, it becomes clear that the way we teach boys to “be men” is itself harmful. We teach them to disconnect from emotions, vulnerability, and relationships.

Coming back to a place you already know feels familiar. I don’t know if anyone who followed me before will see this, or if anyone new will notice me. I mostly write about books, writing, life, politics, and whatever is on my mind.
