Since doing reviews on backloggd this year one of the biggest hurdles Ive had to get over as a critic is the idea that if a game is boring to you, you don't have to give it a 6 or a 7 out of courtesy just because momentum kept you going till the end. That's a 5/10! You can be a little mean sometimes

The more I think back on yesterday's direct the more I start to like it. For the first time in what feels like forever nintendo is actually starting to make an effort to support their core franchises. Star Fox, Metroid, and Pikmin finally getting semi-regular updates after so long is so nice.

I didn't think I was ever gonna watch the korra show because I remember not liking it that much when it first came out, but I think I will. Honestly I'm just craving literally anything more out of the avatar universe. I'm shocked there's not more material from this setting with all its potential.

I think what surprised me the most about mina is how dark the game can be tonally. The world is much meaner than shovel knight both in its setting and in gameplay; it can actually be genuinely disturbing and even a little scary at points
Also the ending fucked me up. I mean I like it but... man...

No one's doing it like yacht club man. Everything here is so absurdly high quality similarly to shovel knight, however it's not necessarily doing the same things that that game did. It feels totally unique from both its retro inspirations and indie contemporaries, and I love it.
