Just because the EXISTING power mix is greener does not necessarily imply that the marginal kWh will be low emission, exhibit 209488
This is striking as we're endlessly told by Big Tech that it's great to build data centres in countries with lots of renewables (like the Nordics, or UK) as they will be greener than they would elsewhere. But inevitably, they end up supporting more fossil generation - UK is seeing the same thing.
It was truly only a matter of time - British company Solanity is proposing a gas-fired data centre in Norway, slapping an obviously-not-going-to-happen CCS lie on it to help it get approved
