I'm working on a research project about military transformation in Mexico between 2006 and 2024. The theory about the subject has been dominated by studies about the US and European military dealing with new threats and technology, but little literature is about how regime changes transform the 🪖.

China has had a purge of top military leaders. Most expect this to hobble Chinese preparations to invade Taiwan. However, I think it also increases the chances that the civilian political leadership wants a more ideologically committed military to do exactly that; perhaps with higher casualties.

Law enforcement is in their worst time in North America.
In the US ICE is not protecting or serving communities.
In Mexico, Police has been substitute by the military.
The standards of Use of Force promoted by Canadian institutions are not implemented by political leaders.
