Well… got that one wrong! Statement victory by New Zealand instead. And here I was hoping we’d have 1/4 of a chance against them in the Autumn.
Rugby's greatest rivalry, some say. South Africa v New Zealand at Ellis Park this afternoon, altitude and a partisan crowd behind the Boks. NZ arrive red hot off that 50-19 statement in Pretoria against the Bulls. Too close to call on paper, but think I fancy the Boks by 6-10.

Home now, and shattered. Missed the England game, have just enough energy to muster a glance at the Argentina/Scotland game. Argentina look to have started the better side. Scotland need to weather the next 10 minutes and kick on from there. I suspect I’ll need a similar plan too, need sleep, badly.

Snuck the headphones in at work. Head says Fiji, ranked above us with Radradra causing havoc. Heart says Wales find a way, two wins on the bounce vs Italy and the Barbarians. Come on Wales! Hope the lads’ heads are clear after this week’s pay dispute though. 1 step forward, 5 back with the WRU.

Missing Australia v Ireland too, typical this is the one weekend a year I actually work. Ireland going in short 11 first-choicers including Doris, Crowley and Porter, but Prendergast comes in fresh off winning the URC with Leinster. Still backing Ireland here, by 7+ on the board.

NZ v France was entertaining, now got to get ready for work so I’ll miss the Japan game. Backing Italy here, 6+ points, to grind this one out. Their scrum should cause real problems for Japan up front. Hoping to catch the highlights later, permission pending.

Huge credit to France there, an absolutely gutsy performance considering how many players they were missing coming into this. Nowhere near the pushover I expected, they made the All Blacks work for every point. 👏🏻

Faletau signing on for another year at Cardiff, excellent news. One of the finest forwards I’ve seen in my lifetime, and one of the very few players to earn a spot in my Groggs collection. Injuries have taken their toll but on his day he’s still sheer world class. Long may it continue.

Bit sad seeing the attendance news for tomorrow’s match. Barely 16k tickets sold for Wales v Fiji at a 33k stadium, emptiest outside of Covid. Poor results, regional chaos and match day costs built to this, worrying given how money trickles down from the top in Welsh rugby.

Great day of rugby ahead tomorrow. First up, NZ v France. Dupont’s out injured, basically ballgame for me. France also missing around nine Top 14 finalists, so their pack’s on the back foot. NZ at home, first game under Rennie, fired up. Can’t see past an All Blacks win, 10+ points.

Really pleased for the Dragons fans after yesterday’s result. Through thick and thin they’re always there in numbers, and have seen some dismal days. I suspect there’s some sore heads waking up this morning. Can they go 3 from 3?!?

Gutted not to be heading to the Brewery Field this evening. Daddy/daughter plans instead, which I’m very much looking forward to. Coming home to the news of an @ospreysofficial.bsky.social win would cap off the day though. Go strong lads 💪🏻

What a result for the Scarlets. Managed the yellow cards very well. Defensively resilient. Took their chances. Da Iawn!…

All signs point to an England win tomorrow. Signs mean nothing though. What a World Cup this has been. Canada v France final anyone?!?

Outstanding! 🇨🇦 👏🏻

There’s still just enough time for NZ to pull this back. Everyone here holding their breath though. C’mon Canada.

TODAY IS YOUR LAST CHANCE to complete our survey on the WRU's plans for the future of Welsh rugby.

It’s not too late for you to have your say - it takes 10 minutes to complete. Don’t let the WRU duck their responsibilities - this is too important.

Seems Adam Jones is very much a part of the Quins setup for the coming season. Was hoping he’d become a permanent part of Tandy’s team. Will be interesting to see if he’s released on secondment for the Autumn, or whether we go in another direction. Clocks ticking though. ~6 weeks to go.

“I genuinely don’t know where Welsh rugby goes from here” is a phrase I’ve used far too much throughout my adult life, especially over the past eighteen months.

Watched the second half of Ebbw Vale v Llandovery on YouTube this afternoon. Great fight back for the Steelmen. I get that it’s the first season of the SRC, can’t help but feel more should be done to promote this league. Come on WRU, show up for once. This could actually work.

I fully support Ospreys and Scarlets regards stance to the PRA25. Don’t care about funding (to a degree), but when we’re handing over so much power regards transfers and playing time, guarantees have to be secured. As an Ospreys fan, we cannot have Jac Morgan parachuted into Cardiff, for example.

Tough outings for both Cardiff and the Dragons this afternoon. I felt that those tipping Cardiff in particular to get something from today were way off base. We are a long way from going out to South Africa and expecting some sort of return. I do fancy the Scarlets tomorrow though.

Beautiful day in sunny Abergavenny today. Dog thoroughly enjoyed his morning walk and is now catching up on some well earned snoozes. Meeting the folks in town for a coffee in an hour, then it’s home to watch the Bulls v Cardiff and Dragons v Stormers. Not a bad way to kick start the weekend.

Tough match! Sharks just too good. Ospreys with 171 tackles to Sharks 73, says it all. Couldn’t retain possession and clearly came with a plan to kick behind and turn the opposition. One final game to end the season it is then. Definite sparks of something special this season. Getting there.
