"The Overnight Visitor Levy will enable mayors to invest in transport and other improvements, benefitting local people, visitors and the area as a whole. Introducing new taxes is never easy, but giving revenue-raising tools like this to local leaders - who know their transport networks and economies best - will bring us closer in line with our European neighbours on local transport provision.
