Pink Dot Hong Kong, the LGBTQIA+ festival cancelled last year when they could not secure WestK as a venue, is being cancelled again this year.
Stanley Plaza and Murray House were booked for next month; Link REIT told them today that due to "licensing issues", the venues could not be rented
(Pink Dot via Facebook) Pink Dot 2026 Event Cancellation Announcement After last year’s venue refusal, Pink Dot HK Organizing Committee has been working hard to find a suitable location to bring back the annual Pink Dot HK outdoor carnival. With the support and cooperation of Link REIT, after extensive discussions, we finalized plans to host a public event on 14 June 2026 at Stanley Plaza and Murray House, both managed by Link REIT. With just one month to go until the scheduled event date, we have been diligently following procedures to apply for the necessary licenses but have not yet received approval from the relevant authorities. However, as we reached the final stages of preparation, we received an update from Link REIT that: “Due to licensing issues, the venue cannot be rented to Pink Dot HK for public activities.” Faced with this uncertainty, given the tight timeline and the involvement of numerous partner organizations, after thorough considerations, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Pink Dot HK outdoor carnival scheduled for 14 June 2026. We extend our heartfelt apologies to our sponsors, performers, community organizations, and volunteer teams who have supported and stood by Pink Dot HK over the years. We have put in our best effort, and we hope for your understanding of our situation. For over a decade, Pink Dot HK has always stayed true to our roots, bringing together the LGBTQIA+ community and allies through a joyous carnival to advocate for the values of diversity and inclusion to the public. Given the unexpected circumstances, we kindly ask for some time and space to regroup. We look forward to reuniting with all of you under Pink sky in the near future!
