Too bad to hear that there won't be a Shortbox Fair this year, but it's completely understandable to need a break. It's so exciting that there'll be so many new artists to the fair in 2027!

I'd been making soup with sort of old miso, but got a new awase miso recently and it's So delicious. Less salty than the previous one, with an almost buttery aroma, and the taste pairs super well with my dashi. It's also got tofu and some enoki + some other mushroom. Nice and simple... I love tofu

I was gifted a gongfu tea set and it was truly very relaxing to sit there for 40 minutes and drink about 12 wee cups of tea broken up by the motions of brewing and decanting. The weight and shapes of the clay pottery is so much more satisfying than using a measuring cup too

Trying my first pu'erh; the tasting notes said milk chocolate, dates, a hint of mushroom, camphor, and spices; I'm getting mushroomy or fishy, and some element I can't identify... it's good! I'm in awe at the range of flavours you can get from the same plant

Made my first completely from-scratch pumpkin pie, including fresh squash! (Celebration squash since the market didn't have pie pumpkins.) I made a number of mistakes, but also learned a lot. The recipe is from 1796 as well so it's quite different from what I'm used to, but I like it!

I don't have enough room for all my art supplies, so I've got pads of paper leaning on furniture, and a spray bottle of fixative just sitting on the floor
