"...we Remainers forgot what Raymond Aron, the great French politicologue, said toward the end of his long life: It is a denial of the entire experience of the twentieth century to suppose that people will reject their passions in favor of their interests."

How anyone watched last year’s finals and thought *Doris Burke* was the problem with the commentary team is beyond me. Richard Jefferson is not good at it.

Hawaii just enacted a law that effectively neuters Citizens United.

Montana could soon follow suit via a ballot referendum.

Here's what you should know about the plans to get Big Money out of politics — and how they could be replicated where you live.

@downtownjoshbrown.bsky.social conflating congress people trading on inside info (which I hate) and what is going on on Kalshi (which I also hate) is disingenuous and you know it. You can be team green without trying to insinuate they’re the same thing.

“Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary, a *lodestar* for MAGA culture warriors and right-wing populists in Europe…” @thepressbox.bsky.social. Even for only in journalism words, that’s quite something.

I do not believe in reveling in other's misfortune. That said, Allbirds were the ugliest fucking shoes I have ever seen, I never understood why people were losing their minds over them. That they were Sillicon Valley's favorite sneaker tells you all you need to know, that bastion of taste and style.

@dkthomp.bsky.social I have a winter Negroni recipe for you. Replace the Campari with Sfumato. It's a rhubarb amaro that gives it this wonderful smoked characteristic, which is perfect for the cold weather we're having right now versus the brightness of a regular Negroni. Let me help you think.

On DOGE’s watch, federal spending did not go down at all. It went up. But is still led to cuts that closed offices, canceled programs and deprived people of food, medicine and other aid.
