Conservationist. Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder 2012-2018. AM. Veteran of forest wars. National parks advocate. Unabashed fan of greenie academic activists. Swans tragic. Close friend of Charlie the Bichon. It's what you do, not what you say.
So industry funded the "independent" consultants and the full report isn't publicly available. Sounds distinctly fishy to me.

Australia - weak as piss.

In the context of nature conservation in Australia, perfect has never been a possible option. And good? Usually, some half-arsed policy that does not solve the problem. What governments love is "pragmatism" that inevitably involves significant compromise - a burden that always falls on nature.

But I'm torn over INFM because two people I admire and respect - Dailan Pugh and David Lindenmeyer - see it as the only meaningful way on offer (or likely to be offered) to stop native forest logging and get more national parks. I do hope they're right.

It's a thoughtful contribution. I worked in conservation in government for decades across 4 jurisdictions. As a result, I no longer trust Labor. Offsets are a dangerous crock. A product of neoliberalism with all its moral and practical failures. It is a petard upon which nature will be hoist.
