Also, added Modena and AEK Athens to the football shirt collection. Missed out in Bari due to ferry arriving late but I will try online!

In Bologna today and noticed on the way in on the train that Radu Jude is having a retrospective which he’s present at. Joked that we should keep an eye out for him.

Within 25 mins of arriving in the city, we passed him in the street! He was on the phone so we didn’t bother him but we just laughed.

Had to be done once I saw it. A perfect gift for my wife on our anniversary. Turin Horse her favourite film of all time. @film.curzon.com

I saw this film three days ago and I haven’t been able to get this scene out of my head since.

I have rewatched it countless times and listened the soundtrack multiple times too. I’d never even heard of Patlabor until about 3 weeks ago.

5 ⭐ film.

Saw Zulawski’s On The Silver Globe (1988) for the 3rd time this year but for the first time at the cinema.

Just one of the most mental films you will ever see.

Finally, at long long last, watched the pilot of Twin Peaks this evening. My word what a stunning opening.

Another INSANE double pull at my favourite London charity shop. Fassbinder and Wajda books for the collection. #filmsky

After much delaying, have finally booked up our honeymoon.

Turin, Matera, Athens, the Peloponnese, Bologna, Paris. All done by land or sea.

There’s a Brazilian place near by office called Pop Skewer which I’ve started going to and I swear I hear Portuguese speaking customers every time I go, so you know the food has to be legit. It’s great and well priced too. 🇧🇷

Mungiu is working on Tales from the Golden Age Part 2! The first one is one of my all time favourite films so I cannot wait for this. Seemingly this is set in Poland. #filmsky

Lovely gift from my Italian in laws who are over from Rome at the moment. They know me well already.

Yesterday I trekked down to Nunhead Cemetery in south-east London where I had tracked down a grave of my great-grandparents.

We just had a rough idea which part of the cemetery it was in, but suddenly I spotted the name Sansun peeking out behind some ivy. We cleared it away and there it was.

There’s this shot which is used twice in The Banishment which is pure One Battle After Another. Surely PTA has seen this? #filmsky

Had a great weekend getting into the filmography of Andrey Zvyagintsev.

Started incredibly strong with The Return, which really was a fantastic film. Loveless in 2017 creates a nice bookend as probably my 2nd favourite film of his, but the level was very strong throughout.

Today I woke up at 5am in Cornwall, drove 4 hours back to Berkshire, got the Lizzie Line to London and walked to Islington Green by 1.30pm.

Two hours later, aching legs, hot, cramped, the great outpouring of energy and joy happened. Twenty two years of waiting. What a day. I love Arsenal.

North London Forever.

Had to hit up the Emirates on my way back from the office today. Vibes are so good. Fist bumps from strangers, people still singing around the stadium.

Cannot wait to move into London.

I need this damn housing market to sort itself out so I can sell my flat and move to London man. Been trying to sell for 6 months and nothing happening.

When I met my wife she lived on Seven Sisters Road, what I wouldn’t have given to have had access to that flat one more time last night.

Glad to see Fjord getting good reviews. Hopefully more people search out my favourite Mungiu film, one he wrote and co-directed, Tales From The Golden Age.

A fantastic and hilarious anthology film.

A great weekend. Fellini’s 8 1/2 on the big screen in Whitechapel, then today, Andrzej Wajda’s Palme D’or winner Man of Iron (after watching Man of Marble last week) and Jafar Panahi’s stunning documentary This is Not a Film this evening.

Really doesn’t get much better - except Arsenal won too!
