Cnidarian-dinoflagellate symbiosis research using Aiptasia as a model system.
Hi, I'm Marcie! I'm from the UK and recently moved to New Zealand to join the Davy lab, where I'm doing my PhD studying Aiptasia and coral responses to starvation, focusing on the immune system and symbiosomes. I'm really excited to be here, and I can't wait to get stuck into the research!

Handactis nutrix is a species of intertidal sea anemone that lives on brown algae. We are currently growing the anemones with and without their seaweed host to observe the effects of this symbiosis. Preliminary results demonstrated nutrient transport from the anemone to the host.
