Many years ago, I watched Practical Magic in the movie theater as a kid. I couldn't remember the title, but it was terrifying to me at the time and left an impression.
Due to press about the upcoming movie sequel, I found out the title and found that it was adapted from a book. Now I'm reading it.

Even though my King had an escape square, I got really scared by a diagonal Queen-Bishop battery my opponent had. I thought I needed to give up a Rook to shut down the threat and survive.

I'm maxed out on donations until early June, and I have my platelets appointment for when I'm eligible again :)

Today I learned that the "call an ambulance, BUT NOT FOR ME" tactic in chess actually has a proper tactical name - The Counter-check!
I'm still going to think of it as "call an ambulance" any time I see it happen in a game or puzzle though.
