Flashed back to my first trip to Scotland, in 2005. On August 12th, Dave R and I took a long day trip via train, bus, and taxi from Glasgow to Glamis, in Angus. Worth it!

Philadelphia's July 4 parade was cancelled because of the heat, so we saw ghost parade, as floats were taken away. (I didn't see the whole thing, it was kinda sad.)

The 1870-built commuter rail station near me is getting some important repairs. In the 1930s, the roof was made flat, for a Pitcairn autogyro, which carried mail into Philly. (Apparently there was drama about using Pennsylvania Railroad's train cars for that purpose.)
