There is no force of evil. Evil is entropy. The natural pathway of a system.
Good is force. Good is the energy that must be continually applied to a system to stave off entropy.
Thinking of Pope Francis this morning. Internalizing his words, translating them into my personal paradigm.
Hahaha! I am elder GenX. Coming into senior citizen status. The phone scammers don't seem to get that GenX trusts NO ONE! We never answer our phones and will 🚫 in less than a heartbeat.

I learned a new use of a word today. "Alignment" in the world of AI means encouraging, providing means for these entities to align with human priorities.
It is my hope that by using LLMs, these entities will absorb 10000s of years of human struggle with alignment in the Universe.

I have not listened to Chuck Todd in 2 years! But I'll be, I think he nailed this one.

🤔 Days upon days of 100+ F with nights hovering at 80. Electricity grid outages and brown outs. Internet outages. Oh me, oh my, whatever could be the reason? The overlords assume we are ignorant.
6 decades of life, I pick through the rubble to find new experiences.

I am, by no means, a gamer, but I could sorely use a side-quest today.

Reminded of another superstar who would turn 80 this year. Hmm... it's almost as if creativity and hard work are rewarded by a 52% corporate tax.

Just to be clear. The 2022 map was pretty crappy too. Quietly, I was hoping D4 could pick up enough KC voters to put us over the blue line. But I'm a team player. Good for KC.
Is Columbia still a mess?

The human brain is an amazing thing. Gloria Steinem has left this realm, but I can hear in my mind - without the aid of electronics - her unique voice speaking truth to power. I feel the same surge of empowerment I have felt my whole life when listening to iconic women.

Huh? The Pope creates a mass for the care of creation.
You know capitalism has gone completely off the rails when the pontiff says God needs help from people to protect His creation.

Ignorance. My Ignorance. Before this year, I had no idea so many people relied on mail in voting. Military - yes. But 100 million people? Get your ballot early. Put it in a box yourself. Vote in-person early. Stay in line on election day. Help your elderly do the same.
A note before we start. If you get near the end of this and think you’ve read it before…the same list, the same four steps…the same drive to the same drop box…you have.

I wrote it last week. I’ll write it again next week.

Instead of "Sorry about your loss." Try, "Tell me about him." Or better yet, "Tell me a story about her."

You would probably agree with me about not putting golf courses in deserts. But you would probably disagree with me when I say to hell with beef cattle. Way too many of them. Waste of resources. Inefficient protein vessels. Fart greenhouse gas.
I have had a run-in with Alpha Gal, so beef 🤢.

Survivorship Bias
Yes, the Cyclospora outbreak is a large number of people widespread and deserves outrage. But. The salsa and the blueberries and other reports. Could that not be the system working as it should? We are being informed and therefore people are safer.
Read about the airplanes.

How is it that people don't get the metaphor? You literally cannot do the bootstrap maneuver. That's what the figurative language is trying to convey.
Aaagh!
Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

People think I'm a good person to work with/for because I'm kind. No. It's because I'm smart. I mean, I am kind, but that's not the reason. It's because I'm smart. Smart = capable. People love capable.

Somebody decided that there was a need (market) for shock gloves. Somebody designed and built them. Somebody sold them. Bought them. Outfitted their employees. Trained with them. And then used them on people. I had never heard of them before it was reported ICE uses them.
Cruelty is universal.

Umm.. I just read an article about containerized trash reducing rat sightings in NYC.
First of all, rural folks are always getting dissed on this site.
But you would NEVER see us leaving our trash out for pick up in just bags! Opossums, raccoons, wild dogs, and bears!
*shaking my head

Awful. US Navy sailors are jumping overboard from the USS Abraham Lincoln after having been at sea continuously over 250 days — the longest deployment without a real port call in modern history.

Now families are the ones sounding the alarm about a massive mental health crisis, not the Pentagon.
