My ex-wife shared scans of our 2001 New York trip. This photo was taken about 5 days before planes hit the World Trade Center and I have a photo of myself standing on the thing just 2 days before. I find it haunting to look at those shots.

Germany voted a confirmed far-right party into power. The explanations people reach for - protest votes, media manipulation, politicians who didn't listen - turn accomplices back into victims.

Brexit, Trump, the election today in Germany all have something in common: It's too many people to explain it away with stupidity, ignorance, social media, or protest.

No. People choose and want this. It is a statement of values.

Playing with the same relatively large codebase with Codex, Claude, Antigravity, and Pi at once. I'm pretty sure I'm asking for trouble :-)

Is it just me or have coding harnesses lately a strong desire to give time estimates (and quite unrealistic ones at that). "This is one hour work... this will take maybe a week to implement..."

We just shipped Gemini 3.8 Flash! It's our third Flash model in six weeks.

It really shines at long-horizon coding and autonomous agent tasks. To showcase the improved reasoning and tool-calling, check out this game written with a single looping prompt.

Prompt and launch post are in the thread 👇

#blog: A firewall made of German

AI-flavoured sameness makes me tune out before I have really read anything, so my personal posts now start in German - a language my prompts never touch.

"Carney slams Trump admin for 'doing memes'... Carney blasted ..."

Internet culture really played a number on our use of language. Can we just accept the fact that it is extremely rare for heads of state to blast or slam anything?

The engine grew a podcast feed, a player and a migration path, because I had four shows sitting on a WordPress install I no longer wanted to maintain.

One year ago I completed my MSc AI at the @liverpooluni.bsky.social and I still wait to receive my certificate. Currently they claim it arrived because DHL claimed they delivered (they proved it with a photo of a mailbox that wasn't mine). Apparently that counts more than my word.

In our ongoing and unnecessary trade war with Canada, the Canadians likely never imagined President Donald Trump would hit them with a lake renaming.

That is new: every time I open the YouTube App on my phone it starts a random short from my timeline. I fixed this by selecting a shorts time limit of 0 minutes in the settings. This coincidentally matches precisely how much time I like to waste with this type of content anyway.
