Happy to be here. English teacher, spouse, cat mom. Likes: morning yoga, long baths, making risotto, having opinions about TV. Dislikes: being late, drivers who don't wait their turn to merge on the interstate, "the reason is because."
Describing Cooper to my students: "He'll be detailing a fight to the death between Natty Bumppo and his assailant, & Bumppo is hanging off the edge of a cliff, & then he says, 'But take a moment to admire the majestic view from that cliff...' & 3 pages later, you're still waiting for what happened!"

Our 12 year old cats are on the "Silver Whiskers" program at our vet and it gives me a jolt every time, because in our house they are still referred to as "the kittens."

It is NOT fun, but I coincidentally just got back from my procedure a few hours ago, and the very ordinary turkey sandwich I ate afterwards might be the best turkey sandwich of my life. It will be over soon--and worth it for the peace of mind. Good luck!

I often say that Annie is "helping" me grade papers when she lays on top of them in a bid for attention, but I love how this one looks as though she's actually doing the work :)

So sexy and fun! Did not understand why it didn’t make more of a splash.

And many school administrations are actively partnering to help them, under the mistaken idea that their students will be "left behind" if they do not learn how to use AI "responsibly," since it is "not going anywhere" (as I have heard in many a professional development session in the last 2 years).

I took two philosophy classes in college--Philosophy of Religion and Philosophy of Love--and, no joke, my professor's surname was Godlove.

I immediately thought about Dan Jansen, the US speed skater that had to deal with the questions, the stories, the re-run footage, for YEARS after several unfortunate falls and defeats in multiple Olympics. It is so hard to face that with any kind of grace. Hoping Ilia has good people around him.

Dr. King forever, but I'm kinda glad for the quiet first half. I liked the flirty patient-turned-fleeing suspect early on, but it felt borderline too cutesy, as if the writers took note of Mel's popularity & were going to lay the quirky antics on too thick. Glad it's been dialed down & not overused.

This is a big piece of it for sure. I recently gave a short essay assignment for which I told students they would NOT get lower than an A-, no matter what, as long as they did not use outside sources and only presented their own ideas, and 20% of them STILL used AI. They so don't want to be wrong.

The number of times the last few days I've had to stop and just remind myself to breathe...

Our two cats will be 12 this week and we still, and will always, refer to them as "the kittens."
