I'm on the internet blissed out of my mind. Look how managed my terror is. These posts will never die.
"not pleasant" but "necessary"

The preferred assumption is that the necessity is the motivating part but people should have to prove that they are not, in fact, primarily motivated by unpleasantness before we extend the courtesy of letting them say that.
Trump supporter at rally defends public execution based on Christianity. I'm Serious: “We’re a Christian nation, and that means that we’re not going to let Satan get his way.” There are no words for how dangerous MAGA is to our nation. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/10/u...
‘Not Pleasant’ but ‘Necessary’: Support at Trump Rally for Public Execution (Gift Article)
A sample of people at the president’s midterm stump speech in Tennessee defended the Pentagon’s announcement that it would livestream the execution of a mass shooter.

Two arguments presented here:

1. "The natural habitat for the earth is water"
2. "It's very difficult to deconstruct why anything changes"

Both arguments are in service of the same fundamental belief: humans are free of responsibility to the world.
Bessent dismisses the threat of climate change and melting ice caps:

"As we all know, the natural habitat for the Earth is actually water."

One thing you really do have to hand JD Vance is his consistency. No matter where he goes he always leaves behind a fucked couch.

The president threatens war crimes while screaming "Praise Be To Allah" on Easter Sunday.

Hang this shit in the Louvre.

A lot of losers are going to have to get used to the idea that war is over, in that it's impossible to win a war in the current era.

Russia can't take Ukraine. The US can't protect the strait of Hormuz. War isn't feasible anymore. Sorry dipshits, you'll just have to live with peace and prosperity.

often times the flavors of masculinity are flattened to a "toxic" "non-toxic" dichotomy, but there's also whatever the fuck this is.
What if Lemon Party and Grindr did a cross-promotion.

I'm often a Stancil defender and, as elsewhere, this claim is strictly correct.

BUT, as politics, accepting the correctness of this point is effectively giving up on American democracy and your own legitimacy as a subject within it. He is wrong to expect people to just accept that.
You must vote. You must vote for the Democrat against Trump. There is no other remotely morally acceptable position. I’m sorry if this simple truth gets you yelled at but it’s still true

The easiest test in the world for the dems:

Do not help this fucking guy. Do not give him an out. Keep twisting the knife.

Waltz must call a press conference: "I am not on a similar wavelength with trump, we never agreed to anything, he murdered innocent Americans and that blood doesn't wash off."
This is clearly Trump's cry for help in getting the fuck out of Minnesota.

I think ultimately a lot of this boils down to: "confronting the obvious about trump" = "confronting the existence of an external world and the possibility that you might have obligations to it."

And many elite americans aren't in a place emotionally to reckon with that.

Can’t improve things by perpetuating the lie that immigrants are a threat. Have to take on that lie directly, siding with the pro-immigration American majority.

“But if we get rid of ICE, who will stop the rampaging hordes of scary foreigners?” isn’t good politics. It’s ceding the issue to liars.

"You have the freedom to perform largely uncompensated labor creating content for media companies, but you may not actually live yourself as a free human being in the world."
Republican on CNN: You peacefully protest with a letter to the editor. You peacefully protest by starting a Substack or a podcast.

This is an example of how culture doesn't necessarily create sincere values, it creates words to give permission to have no values.

One might simply say that they like posting on X more than they dislike hanging with predators, but that isn't what would be published in the independent, is it?

Tour guide: green iguanas live in the mangroves.

"too spoiled"
Farmers in deep-red Pennsylvania are struggling to find workers. They're pushing lawmakers to move faster on a farm labor solution, even as Trump cracks down on immigration.

“We need people to do the jobs Americans are too spoiled to do," said one farmer and three-time Trump voter.

the real glory of world war two was that it involved a warrior cult being ground down and beaten to a pulp by people who would rather have been doing something else.
Hegseth: "Maximum lethality -- not tepid legality. Violent effect, not politically correct. We're gonna raise up warriors. Not just defenders."

You can force power to state more obviously that it's unprincipled and arbitrary, but you can't trick it into not being power.

This court will gladly find some embarrassed rationale for why only republicans have the right to rule. We on the left should make them say it aloud, but then what's next?
The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it.

- Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders.

- Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.

Musk almost accidentally created a product that is close to functional and put it in a context where users are using it.

Not to worry though, he's "working on it" to make sure grok won't provide any actual value.
Grok’s going to get one of Musk’s updates again. Can’t wait to see what conspiracy theory it just repeats nonstop this time.
