“UN backs historic climate crisis ruling despite US attempts to stop resolution.”

US, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Yemen, Liberia, and Belarus opposed the measure.

The Resolution backed a world court opinion that countries have a legal obligation to address climate change.

Passed 141-8.

Sanho always nails it!
Drug prohibition functions as an incredible price support for drug traffickers who essentially peddle in minimally processed chemical and agricultural commodities that cost pennies per dose to manufacture. You will never make these substances disappear by making them astronomically more valuable.
What's something that experts/practitioners in your field universally agree upon, but that remains a "hot take" among the general public?

“I don't think men understand where women are right now. After Gisele Pelicot, then the Italian case, now this.
It's become undeniable: men view us as orifices or irrelevant. We're in a profoundly dark place, whereas they are carrying on as if it's just another news story."

If Google stopped providing GMail for free tomorrow, there is nothing any Canadian government could do about it.

And quite frankly, nor should they.

If you want e-mail as a critical service, make Canada Post an e-mail provider.

And make it accountable to the people through Government.

Don't you dare piss away a billion of our taxpayer dollars to join Trump's "Board of Peace."

This is just another absolute own goal by Carney. He showed Canadians that he's willing to be complicit with some truly awful people (Trump, Rubio, Kushner, Blair) in a deeply immoral land theft project *and* he got suckered for his trouble.

Also worth noting that we know the solutions for these problems, and we have a large amount of extremely strong evidence proving that they are very solvable issues, but we choose to let corporate interests and the super rich keep us from living better lives
We face a climate emergency, a housing/affordabikity/homelessness emergency, a public health emergency, an equity emergency, an infrastructure cost emergency, all tied to too low densities, not enough housing, & far too much car dependency.

What we DON’T face is a “community character” emergency.
Despite a well-recognized housing emergency in Puget Sounds, cities continue to wield their emergency powers in ways that are related to...anything but that crisis.

A latest example: Bellevue is considering an emergency control tonight to protect the "character" of Old Bellevue from development.
