1. The single most pernicious and damaging societal imperative I see in action right now, with Ireland in a Covid wave, is this:
'There's no need to test'.
Why? Not just because it tacitly normalises unmitigated transmission, but, more importantly, it hides Long Covid.

People should be allowed to get the most up to date COVID vaccine at least twice a year (or more) if they choose to

Lining up a vaccine schedule with the flu season begs the question - is SARS -Covid a truly seasonal infection? Very convenient if it is, but the other question is - does it really coincide with the flu season? Can it ever be a one size fits all vaccination program.? Haven’t heard that confirmed…!

In the Brownies they told us to never hide under tress in a storm because of lightning. As a grumpy middle-aged woman, I like sitting in the branches of tress during storms. I have yet to be struck by lightning.

What I always try to point out: in a social species like humans, the definition of “fittest” is not actually the strongest, meanest, smartest, most aggressive, etc.
Wearyingly frequently necessary reminder that "social darwinism" or anything else that equates notions of intelligence with "fitness to live" is just ableist eugenicist bullshit derived from a fascist-minded misapplication of darwinism, no matter how clever and snarky and cool you think you're being
