Another fun little side project! I picked up an old WEN Wet Wheel Machine, a little electric sharpener. It wouldn't turn when I got it, but a little cleaning and grease change and it fired right up! Some planer blades for comparison, unsharpened on the left and sharpened on the right.

The good thing about moving to a more populated area is a much more active second hand scene! I was able to pick up these old craftsman planers and jointer for really cheap, and I think with a bit of tuning and elbow grease I'll be able to get some good years out from them!

My very very late Yule project last year was a batch of leather bracelets! Hand dyed and tooled brown leather, a green suade backing, with maroon stitching and a hand stamped copper plate. It was my first leather working project and holy hell I learned a shit ton.

As I delve deeper into to leatherworking, one tool that I made to help is a stitching saddle! It allows you to clamp your work and just focus on stitching!
I was able to use some reclaimed pallet wood, and just a bit of hardware!

Here are the finished pictures of the small jewelry anvil! I finished the clean up with a wire wheel and some flap disks. I then finished with some high temp black paint. Love the 1929 stamp on the rail! Almost 100 years old and still changing!

For a longer jewelry making project I needed a small anvil. I cut a small section of scrap rail and used electrolysis to start to remove the corrosion! It did a fantastic job getting the red rust off, but struggled with the tougher black rust. Look how different it looks though!

My partner and I got to attend a fused glass class in a town near us! I'd never heard of glass fusing and holy fuck was it fun! Does it have me looking into building my own kiln? Yes.

My partner and I received a grocery mix up, and one of the things we got was a bone in pork shoulder! We've gotten a new smoker so I got to try smoking BBQ for the first time. Turned out absolutely wonderfully!

The Smith-Corona Stirling has its first challenges! I figured out the "Variable Line Spacing Knob" is missing from the left platen knob. Without it, the platen quick release doesn't work. Took some feedback from some kind folks on reddit, but learned that the platen can still be wiggled free!

Picked up two new pothos for my collection. A lemon mirage pothos and a Philo Brazil! I'm absolutely in love with the leaves of the Brazil! The Lemon looks a lot like a pearl and jade pothos, but with more of a yellow.

A dear friend got me interested in mechanical typewriters! They've got an adorable machine with cursive typeface, and it was fascinating to get a typed letter! I picked up this Adler Universal 200! Made in West Germany and brought over by the Mormons, this baby has had quite the journey!
