There’s so much there!!! You could easily do a whole sermon on each set of guests plus the guy at the end and their relationship to the king.

All that was missing was “Stayin alive” sampled at the end while the goose strutted off

To be clear it’s not the music or overly repetitive choruses and anything else that triggered it. It was everything else that went with it.

I did meet great people and got some good information. So it’s a win.

My own religious trauma however flared up and I found myself unable to participate in worship with the group … so I’m once again grateful for the daily office.

It is truly holy work. Hard at times but good holy work all the time

Of course there could be a whole myriad of reasons why we were off in the corner (people not out etc) but idk it all just gets old.

I’ve been here almost 48 hours and that one gathering was the first time I’ve been around other queer people that the gaydar picked up.

They put us in a room that wasn’t labeled and not easy to find off way back in the corner somewhere.

Sure it wasn’t intentional but it does send a message.

One big take I got from this conference is how heteronormative church is even in progressive circles.

The episcopal church can be cringe and at times tries too hard to make everyone feel included but the effort is quite genuine and sincere.

Me: I’m an Epsicopal priest

Th: oh! Anglican Church of North America!

Me: … not exactly. They split off from us

Th: why?

Me: we ordain and marry queer people and also we have women in positions of upper leadership

Th: that makes no sense

Me: tell me about it

And I pray for their repentance and renewal of heart before it is too late for them.

Of our being transformed by Christ at the moment of our baptism and our continuing sanctification by our discipleship.

With all the suffering he and his ilk have caused and the shame they have brought on us in the US…

perdition is too good for any of them.

Tonight I have a networking dinner with other clergy and lay leaders in rural areas where we’ll learn more about how to better get our own organizing done and some things we can get cracking on.

We’ll talk about slavery segregation redlining all the things.

And visit with some pastors and lay leaders who are working together and what they’ve built
