[There have been 49 deaths in ICE custody since the start of the second Trump administration...ICE is ending a policy that required the agency to report the deaths of former detainees that occurred within 30 days of their release from federal custody]
ICE will stop reporting deaths of newly released detainees
The policy, issued during the Biden administration, directed the agency to review and report all detainee fatalities, including those that occurred post-release.

Quick, repeated ICE transfers have become more common, we found.

From the final year of the Biden admin to the first year of Trump’s latest term, the number of people transferred 5+ times more than tripled. Families lose track of their relatives; lawyers struggle to locate or speak with clients.
ICE Detained Them, and Then They Vanished
Under Trump, the U.S. increasingly sends immigrants all over the nation with little warning, leaving families and attorneys unsure where they are.

When the birthright citizenship decision comes out, people will say it could never have gone any other way, that the law was obvious. But the mere fact that SCOTUS took on the case is evidence enough that we are living in a time of democratic precarity.

If you think they’re building more detention facilities, increasing mass surveillance, and growing the size of ICE just to deport undocumented immigrants, then you haven’t been paying attention.

Continuing to fund ICE is enabling what we all know is coming next.

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
