Every other major engineering discipline has this, as part of professional licensure (basics ethics course required as well...). AI has made the lack of accountability for computer science professionals extra egregious imho.

Yes, similar story for me, even though I'm no longer in academia. This is a national disgrace.
So depressing. My PhD studies were funded by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. My research program was pretty much exclusively funded by the NSF between 2013 and 2020, and then 60% NSF until 2025. Future university researchers won’t have this opportunity.
