Something worth remembering 25 years after 9/11: in the aftermath of catastrophe, people look around, they see what is needed, and they help.

"Trump’s pledge of a $1 trillion-plus payout for a Republican mid-term victory is adding to investor concerns about Washington’s fiscal discipline and erratic policymaking." Business Week

Trump's $5k per adult is 4% of GDP, which would drive the deficit to 10% of GDP, 3x more than is sustainable.

"President Trump has added more to the national debt than to economic output in his first 17 months in office."

$1.40 in new debt for every $1 of output.
President Trump has added more to the national debt than to economic output in his first 17 months in office.

The CBO projects the gap will only widen over the rest of his term.

Joseph Heller's Catch 22 words on the surrealist, absurdist, and Twilight Zone transformation of black into white and up into down describes the Trump administration to a T, but I'm especially struck by the "Brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice" bit today. It's Stephen Miller's mantra.

Who woulda thunk?

"Investors" are on the knife edge between greed and fear--still wanting to profit from this trade while really knowing it won't pan out at the required scale.
"But I am seeing the first signs of what feels to me like unsustainable silliness, of random new neocloud popping up, people claiming that they're going to build gigantic amounts of compute next year that I think they don't have the revenue to support or a buyer." - Sam Altman on a datacenter bubble

I want my children to be free, to be safe, to breathe clean air, to have medical care, safe food, an education, a working ecosystem,
& be safe from some random guy in camo gear throwing them in a for- profit camp.
At some point those of us in the pro-democracy movement need to stop worrying about Donald Trump and Republicans attacking us over false claims of voter fraud. Instead we need to take steps to protect and expand voting rights and let Trump call us names.

YES TO THIS:
Democrats: CBS must not be invited/allowed to host any debate in which Dem candidate appears. The penalty for gutter racism and toadyism to a MAGA/fascist regime is that you do not get accorded treatment as a real news outlet. PERIOD.
Scoop: Bari Weiss is throwing her full support behind CBS News' widely-panned report about Abdul El-Sayed's old mundane tweets which referenced 9/11—but within the network, the story isn't being received so well.

*The Russian Navy wasn't keen to invade Ukraine, either

*This isn't the fault of the Situtation Room. Ukraine and Iran are two undeclared wars-of-choice by ethnonational oligarchs
And yet, somehow, the USN didn't see this coming in the Strait of Hormuz....

U.S. debt surpassed 100% of GDP this year and is on track to reach 188% over the next 30 years, according to new analysis by @bbkogan.bsky.social and @jaredb-econ.bsky.social.

They find the debt would instead be trending down toward 48%, were it not for the Bush and Trump tax cuts.
