Helpless In The Zodiac Field... With Death Only Inches Away!

People will still tell you that Morrison “hated” and “ruined” the character of Talia al Ghul because they made her the archvillain of the biggest Batman story ever instead of just having her show up occasionally to say “I came to Gotham to warn you… something is coming... something big,” then leave

Watched the back half of Robocop 2 the other night and dazzled by how well the huge SFX set-piece ending - most of which is Tippet's incredible stop-motion model work - holds up. Wouldn't have been a tenth as good in CGI.
Phil Tippett has been pretty vocal about the modern venture-backed studio system cannibalizing his earlier successes. They made a whole documentary about him in 2019 which ends with a positively brutal evaluation of his future in the industry. I hate seeing things play out exactly as he predicted.
Legendary FX animator Phil Tippett is shutting down his studio, which has gone bankrupt 😥
A memorabilia sale is being held this weekend, featuring four decades of production items (Mad God, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, RoboCop, Starship Troopers...).

If anyone's got any old British Thorpe and Porter comics from the 50's or 60's with a Charles Atlas advert in them like the one below, please can you reply with a picture of the cover and the ad?

Embarrassing to say this, but **PLEASE RESKEET*"

My mum told me earlier this week that an LP in the mid-1960's cost £1 19' 11 (a penny short of £2 in old money, so a very unintuitive £1.99, basically).

Adjusted for inflation, that's £36 in today's money!

YouTube being full of bass players slapping and popping and double handed tapping who seemingly *cannot* play anything even a little bit fast with a plectrum, even if it's piss easy, is wild to me

Please join me once again for a trip down hyper-specific memory lane -

Do any UK folk remember buying DC comics in WH Smiths in the 80s/90s (or anytime really)?

I have an inkling they didn't stock them - they did sell Marvel, and Archie for a bit - but I'm all ears if anyone remembers different

Yesterday, the Google AI summary that appears at the top of search results manufactured a 1990s Australian newsstand comics wholesaler out of thin air. Cue lots of backwards and forwards, "Where are you getting this info from", "link me to any web page that mentions this business", etc

Despite all these unmasking covers and this being really the only period that I actually read Spider-Man, it's 2026 and I still have no idea who the Hobgoblin actually was
Don't get too excited but I've been looking through ASM covers and it's so funny how many of these we get

Full Colour Omnibus Edition of Zenith coming in December 2026.

Iirc the super limited, super expensive Complete edition from 13 (!) years ago was advertised as 'will not be offered in this form again' or similar. Recolour a Get Out of Jail card on this front, clearly.
Just updated the downthetubes guide to Rebellion release for 2026, adding titled out later this year - some fantastic @2000ad.bsky.social collections incoming! downthetubes.net/2000ad-treas...

@farawaypress.com Hi John, I hope you're well. Bit of a blast from the past here, but could I possibly ask you a couple of questions about Eastern News distributing comics to Waldenbooks etc back in the 80's and 90's?

The numbers on Spotify suggest that Hot Snakes are significantly more popular than Rocket From The Crypt, how can this possibly be true

Been trying to remember the name of this for about 10 years. Never played it (iirc it was disk only and we didn't have a disk drive) but remember seeing it in Zzap 64 and thought it looked class
Today I learned that the first survival horror video game was probably something called Project Firestart on the C64, and that its monster was pretty much definitely lifted from the Tendril Inhumanoids toy.
